Sukhdi is a traditional Gujarati sweet made from just three ingredients: wheat flour, jaggery (Gud), and ghee (clarified butter). It is also known as 'Gud papdi' in Maharashtra. This quick recipe takes only 10-12 minutes and remains a household favourite even today.
Whether it's an occasion or an auspicious event at home, Sukhdi is often the go-to sweet. Its wholesome nature fills the stomach quickly, making it a top choice among other sweet recipes because it requires minimal ingredients and preparation time. Perhaps, in today's fast paced life, Sukhdi can be termed as 'Homemade Energy bar'.

Take a kadai pan or wok & put it on a high gas flame
Add Ghee (Clarified butter) & melt it
Add fine wheat flour
Add coarse wheat flour
Roast & mix it well for 8 to 10 minutes until mixture starts become light brownish & nice aroma starts to spread
Turn the stove flame to low, add grated jaggery & mix it well
Once jaggery is well mixed, add 1 tbsp milk for softer Sukhdi
Stir the mixture for 1-2 minutes until milk is fully absorbed.
Turn off the Stove flame
Transfer cooked Sukhdi into a dish
Finish the Sukhdi by using a flat bowl or a flat base measuring cup
Cut it into a square or diamond shape pieces
Delicious Sukhdi is ready for serving after it cools down or you may eat while its warm as well.
